The deliverables were developed through desk research and two workshops with stakeholders. By doing so, it helped to increase the likelihood that the recommendations would be implemented since the partners can provide their expertise and experience to policymakers as they discuss the recommendations. Moreover, the partner’s participation in the desk research and workshops provided them with a unique perspective on the challenges at hand.
Throughout the project, a policy-making element is underlined by the development of recommendations for local, national, and European authorities. A list of policy recommendations is drafted following the completion of policy workshops with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, representatives of EU institutions, NGOs, small and medium-sized businesses, and consumer representatives. Partners have heavily promoted and endorsed the recommendations. At the local level, policies can be implemented by municipalities, at the national level by ministries and other relevant institutions, at the EU level by the European Union, and finally by corporations and small and medium-sized businesses. Partners are highly involved in promoting and disseminating recommendations. The policy recommendation workshops for sustainable fashion were highly valuable because they promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, idea generation, stakeholder buy-in, consensus building, and capacity building. It enables diverse stakeholders to contribute their expertise and perspectives, resulting in comprehensive and impactful policy recommendations.
Partners are also encouraged to take action to demonstrate their commitment to the recommendations. Research and education should be supported by these organizations and efforts should be made to implement the recommendations in their own operations.
Furthermore, they should encourage and support other organizations working to implement the recommendations, as well as promote the recommendations to the public through sharing them with their networks and engaging in conversations about the importance of these recommendations.
As a final step, partners should take an active role in advocating for policy changes aligned with the recommendations.
